Tigers on the prowl at ACT School Cross Country Champs 2013

Many Tigers could be seen running around Stromlo Forest Park on the 5th of June 2013 as part of the ACT School Cross Country Championships. Some of the results we are aware of follow...

Jimmy Lemon is ACT Champion in the 9s. Ran a superb race, taking control up the hill at the 150 metre mark and was not headed. Daylight was second - about 70 odd metres to the second placegetter. Ryan Ulrich also ran in U9 Boys and came 19th, well done!!

Imzo McDonald: Third in the 11s. Got run down in the straight where she was in second place to last year's National Champion until about 70 metres from the finish. A very honest run and she deserves her second year at nationals (in Launceston this year). I think Molly Sturgiss was sixth (or thereabouts) in the same race.

Darcy Gooday (5th), Dylan Best (6th) and Nick Donaldson (6th) in their 10s and 11s (respective) races and await word if there will be a place for them at the Nationals (they usually take the first five unless one or other of those can't go for some reason or other - we have fingers crossed).

Marc Walton ran a solid 11th in the 10s. His sister, Maddi fought hard in her race (U12s) along with Lauren Robards (11th).

Little Becca Guest ran a creditable 15th in a very fast race in the 10s.

Ursula McDonald had a tough run (with injury) and is keen to do even better next year and Jack Gooday, racing as one of the younger runners in the 14/15 race found the pace very fast. The eventual winner - Joel Findlay, coached by Dick Telford, and second place to last year's National Champion, Josh Torley, came through the first 2k at 3 mins 12 second pace!!). Joel Blackmore was among the crew that ran in that race too: it was a very big field.

Becca Jarvis came about 10th in her 14/15 race so could have been in the first five of the younger group (fingers crossed). While Jacob Todd did well coming home in 14th.

Other Ginninderra kids spotted but we cannot tell you about places were Charlie Hiskins.

If you have an update, just let us know. We like to stay in touch with our athletes over Winter!!
