Running winter away

The Tigers Fast Running Squad are not taking a cold Canberra Winter's Day as any excuse for a rest. While others braved the indoors it was the sprinters of UC Ginninderra Athletics Club who left the spikes on the table and dived into the depths of sand running today.

Runners aged 12 to 45 years tried their hands at a fun but gruelling beach session at North  Lyneham Beach Volleyball courts. The temperature didn't reach 8 degrees but these quick Tigers were showing a liking for their unusual off track work.

The pre-season preparation that the Tigers are putting in over winter is already showing plenty of return with Neil Thomas last weekend taking half second off his 200m time and 0.25s off his 100m time at AACT Winter High Noon. Our Masters get Faster squad member is really excited to be improving week in and week out. He now gets bragging rights at home over his son Eden - will it last?

This coming weekend (2-3 July 2016) UCGAC will put on another Winter Club Day for members and invited guests. So come along and experience fun, fitness and social competition with the Tigers this season.
