Each month the members of UC Ginninderra's Fast Running squad take to the track as part of training to record their fastest performances over winter.
Competing in this weekend's Winter Club Training Day a number of outstanding performances were recorded.
The fifteen starters in the 60m time trial were led well by Australian 100m Finalist Sam Wade and National silver medalist Jeremy Maranan. All training partners recorded PBs for the sprint and giggle 60m, including Australian 800m Finalist Meg Freeman and Australian/NSW representative Bec Guest.
The 200m trial was taken out by Australian Masters Athlete Mark Rossiter with his fellow National team mate Ken Telfer coming across the line in 3rd. Ginninderra's AWD silver medalist from Perth Eden Thomas broke 30s for the first time today and claimed a morale victory over his rival and father Neil.
In the 300m it was a tight run going down to the photo finish with Meg Freeman just being held out for first place by Club President Steve Dodt. Imogen McDonald continues to impress with early season form over the 300m with another PB in the event over winter.
The 800m time trial featured Meg and Bec running close to Season Bests as they were well paced in the second half of the event by a bunny hopping to get the over the line especially into a strong back straight head wind.
Sunday's 100m trial saw Oceania representative Matt Walters show he's in good form before he leaves for Fiji on Tuesday with a blistering 11.18s for the 400m Hurdles specialist. Joshua Beale, Jeremy Maranan and Neil Thomas all featured in the those who accomplished a PB today. Ginninderra's latest member Josh Garlick looked strong over the first 80m on the way to the 5th faster time for the day. Faster Masters training buddies Lena and Belinda each recorded their own Season Bests in the 100m.
Veteran Spencer Cox led for most of the 400m time trial however it was young guns Matt Walters and Joshua Beale who both sprinted home for near PB times. Spencer's time of 55.75s was a strong effort in his push towards Masters' Games.
The 150m time trial was take out by Jeremy but it was another young sprinter from Telopea Park School Martin Ting who showed he's improving every month with a big PB of almost 0.6s in his second only time trial over the distance. His training buddy Ninja Sbirakos also improved on his season best from last month's time trial at the AIS.
A number of athletes backed up after their training was finished to help Steve Dodt get around the 600m time trial in a decent effort of 1:56.00 for the Veteran hurdler.
The next Winter Club Training Day is on Sunday 7th August at AIS.
