Digitally connected

Ginninderra Athletics with the wonderful support of the Telstra Kids Fund (Telstra Foundation) means this season the club is truly digitally connected.

The grant provides funding for Australia’s fastest network, the NBN, to join forces with some of Australia’s fastest athletes as Ginninderra Athletics looks to the future and further innovate the sport and club operations.

Every member of the club can now access for free Ginninderra Wi-Fi, our homeground NBN hotspot to share, capture and like their favourite moments across the season.

The Club will also be connecting the Timing Gates to the NBN to provide Live Results via the Results HQ web app.

There will also be a trial of capturing live field results on smart phones and tablets.

The Primary Schools Team Challenge will also be live streamed around the country in another first for Canberra’s most innovative athletic club. Ginninderra’s Media and Marketing Officer from UC, Dylan Bryan says capturing the Nitro experience for the thousands of athletics fans in the community can only be provided with the support of companies like Telstra.

Event Manager Lindsay Mitton says the Primary Schools Team Challenge has attracted a lot of interest from right across Canberra and Yass with team nominations going strongly. A line up of sporting personalities from the UC Capitals, Brumbies, Raiders, Canberra United, the CBR Brave and more for the local hero show case event will be a huge highlight for the September 15th event. Canberra’s favourite sporting teams will also be providing chances to meet players and have opportunities to take part in fun activities in this free Community Sporting event.

New season Online Registrations open on the 15th of August with Club Registrar Jodie Collins saying interest in the new Team event is already driving new registrations. Ginninderra Athletics is the only ACT Athletics club where members as young as 3 or as old as 70 can take part in Community Athletics on a Red or Grass Track over summer. The UC Athletics Academy is also proving popular with interest in Ginninderra’s new development pathway where athletes from 10 years and up can get the best support, advice and coaching available.
