CBRfree is Canberra’s public Wi-Fi network, and one of the largest deployments of free, public Wi-Fi in Australia. It forms part of the ACT Government’s commitment to Canberra’s future as a smart and connected digital city. CBRfree is the only major deployment in Australia of free, public Wi-Fi outside of a Central Business District.

CBRfree provides users with access up to 1 gigabyte per day over a fast broadband connection at specific locations, including at Lake Ginninderra.

CBRfree supports a range of smart-city initiatives which will benefit the ACT community, including support for 30 public safety CCTV cameras to help make our city and suburban town centres safer.

The CBRfree network is currently being expanded to cover every Canberra town centre, 16 group centres and a number of popular community locations and businesses. The additional locations will come online by the end of June 2021.

CBRfree is available on Lake Ginninderra starting from The Promenade at Emu Inlet and right along Emu Bank Eat Street down to the Eastern Valley Way Inlet and the Belconnen Skate Park.
