The Primary Schools Team Challenge is a 5-a-side team format that sees schools go head-to-head in a separate Boys and Girls Challenge. Combined placings and overall performances will determine the team’s final placing.
Team performance rather than individual performance is rewarded, with some events featuring individual results, but many focused on combined placings and performances to reach the final event score.
Thanks to the generosity of the Primary Schools Team Challenge sponsors Audi Centre Canberra, The SMART Centre and Capital Clinic Physiotherapy, the winning winning Boys, Girls and Combined Schools Teams will take back to their school a shed full of sporting equipment from Hartsport. Each winning school can choose up to $1000 in sporting equipment for their students.
The Schools will also receive special medal presentation trays that they can display in their trophy cabinet.
The 5 members of each team finishing first, second and third will receive their own Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Relay Baton to take home. The batons come in gold, silver and bronze in a decorative tin.
