Beyond Bank reward the Tigers for all the good we do

Beyond Bank support a number of community organisations across Australia who do good in our community.  Their ‘Your Vote’ program is just one way you can help Beyond Bank provide a little bit more support to groups that you are passionate about.

The ACT results are in for ‘Your Vote’ December 2015:

Ginninderra would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote and recognise the contribution that the Tigers play in the local community.

The $1000 will be used to replace Ginninderra's High Jump mats which are used by athletes every weekend. The mats were donated to the Tigers following the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane. They have seen many thousands of kids do their best and the Tigers are very grateful that we can now renew and invest for future generations of Ginninderra Athletes.

With the assistance of sponsors the Tigers have invested $120k into local facilities that benefit the whole community over the last 5 years. The Tigers hope to continue to this level of invest in the local community and build better community as a result.

Want to further support your community group?
Help Beyond Bank support your favourite community group by opening a Community Reward Account and nominating them as the recipient. Every year Beyond Bank donate a percentage of the annual average balances to the nominated charity – so the more you save the more they can give back.

Tigers Relay good at Championships

Last Sunday a dedicated bunch of Tigers took to the road and traveled to Woden to compete in the Subway LAACT 2015 Relay Championships.

In a topsy turvy day of competition Ginninderra improved on last season's efforts by  going one better in the overall team pointscore and going within a whisker of finishing in first place.

The silver medal to Ginninderra caps off a great start to 2015-16 season where the Tigers won the Multi Event Championships in November and came within 4.5 points of doing something similar at the relay championships.

There were strong performances from many teams with Ginninderra breaking State Records in:

  • U13B - 4x100m and Medley Relay;
  • U12B - 4x100m and Medley Relay;
  • U8G - Long Jump and Shot Put;

Photos from the event have been posted to the Tigers’ Facebook Album. Full results from the Athletics ACT Relay Championships are also available.

Freaky Friday Twilight Meet

This Friday night the Ginninderra Tigers will hold a twilight Christmas Meet from 5:30pm for all age groups (from Tiny Tots and up).

There will be a modified Week 1 Program offered with plenty of action for everyone who attends. Come along and meet Aroara and wish her a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

All the season details are available in the Calendar of Events or in the Season Handbook.

You decide, your vote counts

Beyond Bank is giving the local community the chance to select a local community organisation they'd like to support with a grant, the organisation with most votes will receive $1,000 and the second highest $300.

In the latest round of Community Voting where Beyond Bank nominates 3 local community groups, Ginninderra Little Athletics has been lucky enough to been nominated for this round.

Voting closes on the 16th December 2015. Please get behind the Tigers and help us secure much needed funding to help create more good together.

2015 Little Athletics ACT Subway Relay Championships

Ginninderra is looking for Tigers from U7 to U17 to join us at the free Relay Carnival being held at the Woden Athletics Track (Phillip), Sunday 13th of December 2015.

The first events begin at 9am on the dot. We encourage those athletes competing in the very first events to arrive no later than 08:30am for warm up and registration. What events are there?

Track events

  • U7-8 : 4 x 50 metre shuttle relay and 4 x 100 metre shuttle relay
  • U9-10 : 4 x 70 metre shuttle relay and 4 x 100 metre circular relay
  • U11-17 : 4 x 100 metre circular relay and super sprint medley circular relay (1×400,1×200, 2×100)
  • Open: 4x100m and 4x400m

Field fields

  • U7-9 : Long Jump and Shot Put
  • U10 & 12 : Long Jump and Discus
  • U11 : Long Jump and Shot Put
  • U13, 15 & 17 : High Jump and Shot Put
  • U14 : High Jump and Discus

If you can make only one or two events across the day (morning or midday) we’d love to hear from you! We’d like to see you join Team Tiger in 2015!

Every athlete who attends is guaranteed to compete as not only can Ginninderra enter one or more teams but there are also composite teams that can be entered with other clubs. You don’t need to be a sprinter, jumper or thrower to take part, just willing to do your best for the Tigers and do it with a smile!

Our athletes can compete alongside their older team mates where an opportunity presents itself. This ensures the younger athletes the chance for more participation and the older athletes a chance to compete for Ginninderra to help us earn points!

There are not many team events in Athletics, but this is one of them and we need as many Tigers as we can get out there.

If you are interested or have questions please speak with Helen Hopkins on 0412 594 743 or helen@hdn.com.au. You might also like to visit our photo album from last year. We really need to hear from you ASAP. Thank you.
