LAACT Relay Carnival – 15 December 2018

The 2018 LAACT Relay Carnival is this Saturday 15th December at Woden Park near the Canberra Hospital.

If you didn't get to register online (by Wednesday 5/12/18) don't panic you can still turn up on the day for this carnival! It is free.

To make your experience as good as possible we have prepared some tips for you:

  • Athletes are to be accompanied by an adult/guardian etc for the day (I think we decided that this is the case)
  • Upon arrival please check in with the GAC team at the yellow tent to get your child’s name ticked off.
  • Competitors will need to have a Coles badge on the front of their uniform to be able to compete (available on the day at the GAC tent)
  • If you are unable to fill the volunteer shift allocated to you, please find a replacement and let the GAC team at the yellow tent know.
  • Slip, slop, slap and bring plenty of H2O
  • For U6 to U8 suggested arrival time is 8:15am.
  • For U9 to U17 suggested arrival time is 10:15am.

2018 Little Athletics ACT Relays – Nominations are now being taken

The Coles Little Athletics ACT Relay Carnival will be held on Saturday 15th December at Woden Park Athletics Centre. This is not to be confused with the Athletics ACT Relays on the 1st December 2018 for Under 12s to Masters.

U6 to U8 age groups will commence at 9am with U9 to U17 commencing once the younger age groups are finished, not before 10:30am.

If we are all good we may get a visit from Santa!

To assist us with running a fast past program we ask that parents advise us that you are planning to attend with their child/ren by completing the online form at https://www.timingsolutions.com.au/actlaa-2018-relay-carnival.

Please ensure you complete 1 form per athlete attending by 11:59pm on Wednesday 6th December.

The program will be finalised after nominations are closed.

Come & Try - Grass Track Athletics Program - 13 October 2018

Cubs enjoy their time in athletics

Ginninderra Athletics provides a mix of skill growth, practice and age appropriate competition for our Under 6s and Under 7s.

Starting on Saturday the 20th of October for eight weeks only, Ginninderra will be piloting a National skills program called On Track for Tiger Cubs (Under 6s and Under 7s).

Our UC Interns and Junior Coaches will teach young athletes fundamental skills before they are asked to perform them in a competitive environment.

Each weekend the Tiger Cubs will compete in two events (combination of sprints, long jump, shot put, vortex) where they can track how much they improve over the entire season using ResultsHQ.

Along with the two events, On Track will reduce waiting around at events, provide more chances to practice the basics right, give everyone the opportunity to excel, all while being fun and easy for everyone to do.

The age groups even at event areas are conducted in smaller groups (no more than 8 kids) where at the end of each session athletes can earn skill and level certificates showing that they have obtained the level being taught that day.

When everyone returns after Christmas, Tiger Cubs can demonstrate their new found skills in a 5 event program, where they can focus on being their best. Junior Coaches will continue to support them each and every Saturday giving them the support not found at any other club. Ginninderra provides 1 Junior Coach for every 8 athletes. Learning and practice is always supported with us.

Come and Try on 13th October 2018 from 8:30am and join in with our Tiger Cub Coordinators Alex and Jordan who are looking forward to showing off the Tiger Cub program for this season.
