Construction of Nightfall, the third and final stage of Republic by Geocon is progressing well. The 22-storey building comprises 334 apartments, offering a wide selection of 30 floor plans for 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments. Construction is expected to be completed before the end of 2021.
The apartment complex rounds out the five Republic buildings that were designed by architectural firm Fender Katsalidis, whose portfolio also includes Canberra’s acclaimed NewActon precinct.
Stage one of the Republic precinct included the Republic and Dusk buildings and stage two included the two High Society towers. Together they comprise Australia’s largest residential development under construction with 1300 apartments.
According to Corelogic, Canberra’s apartment market remains one of the strongest performers nationally, with unit prices up 5.2 per cent in the 12 months to February 2021.
Vacancy rates are also at two-year lows—currently less than 1 per cent—with implied gross yields on apartments at 5.5 per cent, according to SQM Research.
